title: Free Tools
description: Brand Stack's free tool library. No account, no ads. Every tool runs on the website and — via @brandstack/cli — from the command line, powered by the same engine.
---

Brand Stack offers a growing library of free tools at [brandstack.dev/tools](https://brandstack.dev/tools). Every tool is free, requires no sign-up, and runs without ads. They cover the jobs that surface the week of a launch: sizing imagery, checking social cards, tagging URLs, picking colors and symbols.

Every tool exists in two forms backed by one engine (`@brandstack/tools-engine` on npm):

- **The website** — visual, interactive, nothing to install.
- **The CLI** — [`@brandstack/cli` on npm](https://www.npmjs.com/package/@brandstack/cli): `npx @brandstack/cli <tool>`, for agents, scripts, and CI. Works on a clean machine with no credentials, and offline for every tool except the Moonshot Test (whose assessment runs on our servers).

Because both consume the same engine, they cannot drift: same logic, same output contract, and for image tools the same pixels (proven by golden-image tests in CI).

## Available tools

| Tool | Category | Runs offline in the CLI? |
|------|----------|--------------------------|
| [Browser Mockup Studio](/tools/browser-mockup) | Mockups & Visuals | Yes, same pixels as the browser export |
| [Launch Image Resizer](/tools/launch-image-resizer) | Mockups & Visuals | Yes — all 17 sizes, same filenames as the browser export |
| [OG Image Preview & Builder](/tools/og-image-preview) | Marketing | Build: yes. Preview: fetches the target URL |
| [UTM Builder](/tools/utm-builder) | Marketing | Yes |
| [Brand Kit Builder](/tools/brand-kit) | Brand & Identity | Yes for tokens and the sheet (CLI sheets render type in Inter) |
| [Color Palette from Image](/tools/color-palette) | Brand & Identity | Yes — deterministic palette |
| [Background Shaders](/tools/webgl-shaders) | Brand & Identity | Yes for exports; live tuning preview is browser-only (WebGL) |
| [The Moonshot Test](/tools/moonshot-test) | Personas & Research | No — needs network to the public API (no account, rate limited) |
| [Special Characters](/tools/special-characters) | Writing | Yes |
| [Emoji Catalogue](/tools/emoji-catalogue) | Writing | Yes |

More tools are in development. See the full catalog at [brandstack.dev/tools](https://brandstack.dev/tools).

Looking for the Template Studio? That is an in-app feature for generating reusable mockup compositions, documented under [Templates](/templates).

## The CLI

```sh
npx @brandstack/cli --help            # list every tool
npx @brandstack/cli launch-image-resizer ./hero.png --out ./launch --zip
npx @brandstack/cli color-palette-from-image ./logo.png --json
npx @brandstack/cli utm-builder https://example.com --source newsletter --medium email --campaign q3
```

Logged-in workspaces get a second command family from the same binary: `brandstack list-brands`, `get-brand`, `create-mockup`, and the rest of the [MCP tool set](/mcp/tools) as subcommands, authenticated with an [API key](/mcp/api-keys) (`brandstack login`, or `BRANDSTACK_API_KEY` in CI). Workspace commands and MCP connectors share one server endpoint, so rules and error messages are identical everywhere. There's also `brandstack upload <file>`, which puts a local image in your workspace and prints its URL, the step that turns a screenshot on disk into something [`create-mockup` can use](/mcp/screenshots). Agents connected over MCP can do the same without any key through `create_upload_link`. The free tools above never need any of this.

Two things worth knowing:

- **Tool URLs are commands.** Configure a tool visually on the website, copy its settings link, and pass the URL to the CLI (or hand it to an agent): `npx @brandstack/cli "<settings link>"`. The URL's query string carries the full setup.
- **Subcommands are generated from the tool manifest**, so a new tool on the website appears in the CLI without CLI changes.

## Do I need a Brand Stack account?

No. All free tools work without signing in — on the website and in the CLI. Some results, like Moonshot Test assessments, can optionally be shared to a public community gallery, which also requires no account.

## Can AI agents use these tools?

Yes, by design — and the CLI is the preferred path: it needs no browser, no credentials, and (Moonshot aside) no network. Every tool page still ends with a "How to use" section covering the CLI, browser steps, URL parameters, public APIs, and the output contract, and every tool is served as plain markdown for agents: append `.md` to any tool URL (like `/tools/launch-image-resizer.md`), request the page with an `Accept: text/markdown` header, or start from the index at [/llms.txt](https://brandstack.dev/llms.txt).

## How are the tools free?

Most tools run entirely on your device — in the browser or in the CLI — with no server cost; images and inputs never leave it. The Moonshot Test uses a lightweight AI model on our servers and is rate-limited to 5 requests per hour per IP to keep it free for everyone.
