Your First Persona Set
Step-by-step guide to generating your first AI persona set from a website URL or product description.
This guide walks you through creating your first persona set. By the end, you’ll have research-backed customer profiles you can chat with, use in documents, and share with your team.
Start the creation flow
Click New Persona from the sidebar or your dashboard. Brand Stack asks two questions to find the right creation path for you.
Step 1: Define your product
If you have a website
Select “Yes, I have a product” and paste your website URL. Brand Stack scans your site and automatically extracts:
- Product name
- Industry
- Description
- Target audience signals
Review the extracted details and edit anything that needs adjusting.
If you don’t have a website yet
Select “No, I’m still exploring” and fill in three fields:
- Product name — What you’re building or planning
- Short description — One or two sentences about what it does
- Industry — The market you’re targeting
This lightweight form gives Brand Stack enough context to generate relevant personas without a live product.
Step 2: Choose your path
“I know who my customer is”
Describe your target user in your own words. Be as specific or general as you want. For example:
- “Senior product managers at mid-size B2B SaaS companies”
- “First-time founders building developer tools”
- “Marketing directors at e-commerce brands doing $5-50M revenue”
Brand Stack generates 3 persona variations that match your description but represent different archetypes within that segment. Same audience, different perspectives.
“Help me discover my customers”
If you’re not sure who your customer is, skip the description. Brand Stack generates 6 diverse persona recommendations based on your product context, covering different demographics, roles, industries, and use cases.
This path is useful early in product development when you want to explore who might benefit from what you’re building.
Step 3: Select and generate
Brand Stack presents your persona recommendations as cards with a name, archetype, and brief summary. Review them and select which ones to generate.
- Each persona costs 3 credits to generate
- You can select all of them or just the most relevant ones
- Generation takes a few seconds per persona
Once generated, your personas appear in your workspace ready to explore.
Tips for better personas
- Be specific in your product description. “Project management tool for remote engineering teams” produces more focused personas than “productivity app.”
- Try both paths. Generate a set using “I know my customer” and another using discovery mode. Compare the results.
- Start with 2-3 personas. You can always generate more later. Focus on the segments most relevant to your current work.
