Launch Image Resizer

Resize one image into every launch surface size in one pass. OG, X, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, Product Hunt, GitHub, App Store, and Play Store, exported as PNG, WebP, or a single zip — in the browser or from the CLI.

The Launch Image Resizer is a free tool at brandstack.dev/tools/launch-image-resizer. Drop one image and export it correctly cropped for all 17 sizes a launch needs. It runs in your browser (your image is never uploaded) and as a CLI command — same engine, same math, same filenames.

npx @brandstack/cli launch-image-resizer ./hero.png --out ./launch --zip

No browser, no account, no network after install. Flags mirror the page’s URL parameters exactly: --fit cover|contain, --format png|webp, --fx/--fy (focal point), --crop x,y,w,h, --sizes id,id,…, --bg hex. Run --list for the size ids and --help for everything else.

Better yet, configure the tool visually and hand the CLI the link: every setting on the page encodes into the URL, and the CLI accepts that URL as an argument.

npx @brandstack/cli launch-image-resizer ./hero.png \
  "https://brandstack.dev/tools/launch-image-resizer?fit=cover&fx=0.25&fy=0.5&sizes=og-image,x-post" \
  --out ./launch

The CLI writes the exact files the browser export produces — same names, same pixels (this parity is enforced by golden-image tests in CI). Encoded bytes can differ between environments because image encoders differ; the pixel content does not.

How to use it in the browser

  1. Load an image by dragging it onto the page, pasting it (⌘V or Ctrl+V), or clicking the dropzone
  2. Drag the focal point on the source preview to choose which part of the image stays centered when a size crops
  3. Optionally crop the base image first (see below)
  4. Pick Crop or Fit mode, and PNG or WebP output
  5. Check or uncheck sizes, then click Download N sizes as zip, or download any single size from its card

Each exported file is named <image-name>-<size-id>-<width>x<height>.<png|webp>, so a set drops cleanly into a repo or asset library. The zip is always launch-images.zip.

The sizes it exports

Three groups, with every dimension shown in a cheat sheet on the tool page (or npx @brandstack/cli launch-image-resizer --list):

  • Social: OG / link preview (1200×630), X post and header, LinkedIn post and profile cover, Instagram square, portrait, and story, YouTube thumbnail
  • Launch platforms: Product Hunt gallery and thumbnail, GitHub social preview
  • App stores: App Store iPhone 6.9-inch, 6.5-inch, and iPad Pro 12.9-inch screenshots, Play Store phone screenshot and feature graphic

Dimensions are verified against each platform’s current spec and re-checked quarterly.

Crop and Fit modes

Crop (the default) fills each frame completely. When a target is wider or taller than your image allows, the crop window slides to keep your focal point as close to center as the image permits.

Fit never crops: the whole image is scaled down and centered on a background color you pick, with the rest as padding. Use it for logos and screenshots that must stay complete.

Manual crop

Click Crop in the source panel to cut the base image before resizing. Drag the window to move it, drag a corner handle to resize it, then Apply crop. Every preview and export re-bases on the cropped region at full resolution. The original stays in memory, so Reset crop restores it and re-opening the crop editor lets you revise the window without re-uploading. In the CLI, the same crop is --crop x,y,w,h (normalized 0..1), or arrives via the settings link.

Hand it to a coding agent

  • The Run it with your coding agent panel on the page copies a structured prompt: one npx @brandstack/cli command carrying your settings deep link, with browser-automation steps as the fallback and the underlying math for auditing
  • Every setting encodes into the URL (fit, format, fx/fy, crop, sizes, bg), so a link carries a complete setup
  • The tool page is also served as plain markdown at /tools/launch-image-resizer.md, and listed with instructions in /llms.txt

When to use this tool

  • You are launching and need the same hero image on nine surfaces this week
  • The App Store listing needs exact screenshot dimensions and you do not want to look them up again
  • A teammate asked for “the social versions” of an image and you want to hand back one zip
  • Your coding agent should regenerate every launch size whenever the source image changes — one CLI line in a script does it

For the images themselves, Brand Stack generates photoreal mockups, scenes, and launch imagery starring your own customer personas, built from your brand. This tool handles the sizing; Brand Stack generates the shot.
